Artist's Comments

Arabian horses have a tendency to 'regard' their spectators when they are at liberty. Here is the one, the ONLY Desperado V running at liberty at Varian Arabians Spring Fling 2007. He may no longer be the herd stallion but for many of us he is still THE king.

Thank you. At the end of the sales session they let all their stallions run free in the arena. It was hard getting some of the shots because each and every single one of the studs was a camera hound. If you had a camera they came CHARGING up at you for a closeup. It was hard keeping them in the viewfinder ;) (argh when will I remember to hit the reply button instead of comment ugh)

Ha, I can imagine. I love how arabs show off, they know everyone is watching them.
:iconsavuti:
They are attention hounds for sure. These ones especially gravitated to the people with cameras. Sometimes running at a full gallop and stopping right in front of the viewfinder.

Great shot. I wish they had these types of shows in the UK where they let them run around...they are always in a halter here and being led though which is boring.
:iconsavuti:
Oh well its' not really a show. Varian Arabians holds a spring and summer jubilee where they advertise their horses and allow people from all over to come and watch them at liberty (and to hopefully purchase them). She also holds seminars with some of the top trainers and veterinarians at these events. Mostly its like an Arabian open house ;)

I know they often do something similar at shows as well over there. Maybe not all mind.

Bet it's very nice to watch them.
